I am a trial attorney with over 30 years of experience in the Denver Metro area specializing in Criminal Defense and Personal Injury cases.

Personal Background

I grew up in Denver and graduated from Denver East High School (1985), the University of Colorado at Boulder  (B.A., 1989), and the University of Denver Law School (J. D., 1993), attending on the DU Law Scholarship. 

Legal Career Begins in the Courtroom

Remaining in Denver after law school, I began my legal career working for five years as a Deputy District Attorney, where I was involved in prosecuting all felony and misdemeanor crimes while gaining valuable and extensive jury trial experience in District and County Court. My caseload included Murder, Drug, Domestic Violence, Burglary, Robbery, Assault, Vehicular Homicide/Assault, Fraud/Theft, DUI and juvenile cases. During my time at the District Attorney’s Office, I also worked as an Instructor teaching college courses on Search and Seizure and Confessions.

Criminal Defense Practice

I left the DA’s Office in 1998 to enter into private practice and for the last 25 years I have been aggressively defending persons charged in a wide variety of criminal cases. I tirelessly and relentlessly represent my clients against all felony and misdemeanor criminal charges in Denver, Boulder, Jefferson, Adams, Arapahoe, Weld and Douglas counties as well as municipal courts throughout the region. My private practice criminal caseload has included the entire spectrum of criminal charges including Murder, Domestic Violence, Drug Possession/Distribution, Assault, and DUI cases. I have handled thousands of criminal cases during my career, tried over 100 criminal trials and argued before the Colorado Supreme Court.

Experience working inside the system matters, and my extensive experience gives me a familiarity, understanding, and knowledge of the Judges and Prosecutors on the other side of your case. This experience is absolutely critical in advising my clients as they make the decision whether they should resolve their case before trial or take it to a jury.

Personal Injury/Wrongful Death Practice

My civil practice includes representing clients seeking compensation for the wrongful death of a loved one or their own personal injuries and harm resulting from automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents or truck accidents. These cases are brought when my clients are harmed by others who drove while under the influence, while distracted, with excessive speed, after failing to stop, or by other acts that were reckless, careless or negligent. These cases are complex and frequently involve significant investigation, preparation, negotiation with multiple insurance companies, providers and lien holders. It is important to have guidance through the legal system while seeking recovery for emergency medical treatment, long term medical care, rehabilitation costs, permanent physical impairment/disability, lost wages, emotional distress and pain and suffering. I am selective in taking on these cases and do so on a contingency fee basis. This selective approach has resulted in clients realizing settlements for one million dollars or more and others realizing substantial recoveries.
